The title caught my eye while desperately searching for a Christmas movie other than Hallmark style. After watching the trailer I knew I would have a good laugh but I did not expect the tears. We've all encountered a Karen at some point in our lives and this character is far more humbug than Scrooge. What a colourful, diverse and inclusive retelling of the Charles Dickens classic. I plan to watch again with a friend. If you're looking for a holiday movie to fill your empty stocking with hilarious laughter wrapped with decorative sentiment I highly recommend giving it a watch. This clearly illustrates the meaning of a Karen.
This series is a beautiful paradox of the balance of Light and Dark in a world born of light out of darkness. It is another example of Turkish delight in storytelling illustrating the lexicon of love and hate/good and evil. It is based on several myths but mostly Kurdish in origin. There are references to the pit and the Garden of Eden in a well of the unknown mysteries which in Christianity is obtained by consuming the forbidden fruit from the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil that the Serpent (Satan) tempts Eve to eat and offer to Adam which results in their banishment from the Garden of Eden. In Judaism, Adam's first wife Lilith is also made of the earth but refused to be subservient to him and thus was banished. This series is profoundly mystical like many Turkish tales. I highly recommend it and I've heard there may possibly be a third season.... hissss 🐍
This film is total Art House! It is no wonder why it won so many awards. The young actress Keris Hope Hill who portrays the lead character Rosie is absolutely stellar and definitely a Rising Star as critics have raved! Melanie Bray in the role of Frederique is fierce! The entire cast are enchanting! This is just another example of an excellent production in the Canadian film industry. I applaud the entire cast and crew for such a colourful, diverse and inclusive gem of a movie. It will tug at your heartstrings that's for sure! Beautiful story that I will be watching again and highly recommend!
