A Minecraft Movie is the film honoring the popularity of the game Minecraft. I find quite a lot that the film does well is the meme-ability of the content at hand that in turn makes it memorable. At times, that seems to take away from any emotional depth. It does feature the trope where characters of the real world enter the video game world or the characters of the video game world enter the real world. Still, it could possibly satisfy longtime Minecraft fans and fans of other recent video game movies.
Thunderbolts* is the latest MCU film to feature characters introduced previous projects to team up and it was good. I felt like it has the vibes of the Guardians of the Galaxy movies but more street level and grounded. It feels like the Thunderbolts are more of a found family like the Guardians, that both teams are groups of misfits who so happen to be put in the same place at the same time and then they form a close bond. With being a more grounded story, Thunderbolts felt good as social commentary in that everybody needs someone when they're down. That makes it a solid entree in the MCU.
This episode of Ultimate Spider-Man lets us see what would happen if Spider-Man became the hero of Boston for a couple days. It provides a turn around for the series as this episode has more of a different setting and he is the most by himself up to this point. Say at least it's an episode where he could spend to himself rather than being in a team setting for the entire series. At times, it feels like the series needs to be more grounded to be considered more 'ultimate'. Not quite grounded but a good shake up to get closer to 'ultimate'.
