Fatso (2008)
From embarrassing to great to face-palm.
This concept could very well have portrayed an awkward fat nerd's struggle to become a real alpha man and Rino could very well have become every fat nerd's role model. I thought first the movie was aiming at this, but like most Norwegian movies, this movie has its unnecessary twists and turns to make the viewer not anticipate such ending and of course this has it's own shares of such.
I must say Nils Kaalstad starring Rino is one of the best performances EVER. He genuinely portrays a very awkward and ultra nerdy guy in such a realistic way that you actually feel he is one hell of a looser and almost forget this is a movie and not a documentary of such a douche. He actually grows eventually a bit more balls and it is amazing to see the gradual transformation of Rino. From extremely awkward to sometimes very charismatic, this actor knows how to deliver! Malin is Rinos new roommate and she does also a terrific job to portray a stupid Swedish blonde girl who likes to party and never takes responsibility for anything. Rino's best friend is Fillip who is often very abusive to him, but since Rino has no friends, I guess he has to take what he gets. It is also very interesting to see how this relation completely changes, once Rino grows some balls.
Rino also likes to draw cartoons, depicting his sexual frustration, which is kind of interesting concept even though they are quite immature and plain right stupid. This movie could have been "Rocky for nerds" and I think they should have taken it this direction, but this is a movie that is interesting and constantly surprises you and you do not know what direction it will take you and therefore it gets a 6.5/10 from me. It had great potential, but it is a fun movie nevertheless.
Mer eller mindre mann (2012)
Borefest with unlikable characters
I am not a Norwegian and perhaps I do not get Norwegian humor, but this was a movie about a 35 year old man acting like a 15 year old and not in an even remotely funny way. The main character Henrik is plain creepy and an odd guy. I do not recommend this to anyone and I will on the next few lines give away the "comedic highlights" of the movie and what it is all about, so here comes the spoiler.
If you think that a guy going into the backseat of a car jerking off to Peter Pan children's magazine is comedy gold or perhaps think that it would be extremely funny to see a man getting chased by a man picking a bogey out of his nose is is great, then yes, this movie will have ONE hand(full) of "comedic ""highlights""" like this in the movie.
Otherwise it is just Henrik being an extremely awkward and unlikeable guy with a very odd sense of humor acting like a goof ball in front of his pregnant girlfriend Mia.
When Henrik almost start acting like a guy who lives on this planet and starts to act to become a "responsible parent" we got Mia that becomes a whining annoying bitch for no reason. Well, Henrik had been acting like an idiot, but he really did his best to change, and it is just plain annoying to see Mia just reject everything he wants to do? The ending? Just some stupid dialog and end credits. Duh.
The characters were extremely creepy and awkward in the least funny way. I wasted almost 2 hours of life watching this junk and I now write and warn you to not waste 2 hours of your life on this junk.
A Nightmare on Elm Street (2010)
A very good psychological thriller
I thought this would basically be the original film with better special effects and therefore did not go and see the movie. This is not a remake, but taking the old premise of the original and taking a completely different approach to this.
While we got in the first film a very brief explanation that parents burned Freddy to death after they discovered he was a pedophile and it was a bunch of kids hatching plans on how to stop him. This film main premise is almost until the very end, Freddy revealing his life to the kids. Firstly it seems that Freddy was burned to death, because children made false accusations of him and he has a legitimate beef to pick with these parents. It is not just a hacker and slasher, it is a great psychological thriller and a detective story.
The question until the very end was if Freddy was innocent and not and it was an interesting and sick twist of the story in the very end.
I think it was a really cool movie. Not much horror and gore, but a very fascinating and interesting story until the very end.
Folk flest bor i Kina (2002)
Boring stories with no plot
I usually like political satire, but this was just a borefest. There is absolutely no plot at all, but just random stories which do not make any sense at all and just extremely loosely connected to each others. If I hadn't seen any other Norwegian movies, than I'd stay far away from at least all ""comedy"" that comes from this country. There was 1 hour 22 minutes in my life wasted with one of the most be among the most boring films I ever seen. Surely some people might have a different sense of humor, but when I watch a comedy then I at least except to laugh once and this had just a few attempts that I could except would cause a few giggles. I would definitely not class this as a comedy, what the heck it is, I have no idea of, since I do not consider this "movie" anything else than a random mess of boring scenes that do not go anywhere.
Terminal Invasion (2002)
Fun movie that is not to be taken that serious
I watched this movie because it had Sean Cunningham (director of Friday the 13th) with Bruce Campbell (Evil Dead) and thought it would be a high tension and suspense action-thriller. However, I think it was some more like some mystery-thriller a la Stephen King. The Langoliers was the first movie that popped into my mind.
People are stranded on an airport that is filled with aliens. Yes, we've seen movies like this a million times and it is what you would suspect. Nothing more, nothing less. OK, I found Bruce a bit like a whining wimp and some of the characters were very annoying and the monsters looked ridiculous. However, I found it interesting how they would get out of this trouble and the twist at the end was also welcome. The reason why the aliens invaded is well explained at the end Here is the reason why they invaded, that is explained at the very end (minor PLOT SPOILER ahead) They invaded the airport as a test before a bigger invasion. Their reason for invading earth is because they found humans had the strongest spirit and would therefore make the best slave labor (why these high-tech aliens would use human labour instead of high-tech machinery could be questioned?;) PLOTSPOILER END They do not invade us "because they hate us and want us dead" as the alien says in one of the first scenes and people here complain about this as "a stupid plot". You get what you expect and if this sounds something that you would like, go ahead and rent it, but do not expect anything groundbreaking.
An Inconvenient Truth (2006)
Lies, lies and more lies
Oh man, it is amazing how somebody can claim global warming to be a science, well, I guess this elitist nonsense is now replacing the science of eugenics! Al Gore tries to make this issue sound complicated, even though it just needs common sense to see this whole thing is a big hoax by a man with his own moneymaking agenda!
How have scientists estimated historical temperatures of this planet? By estimating the sun spot activity. Has nobody ever questioned if this method has been accurate? No, not even Gore himself! So how the heck would it not be accurate to forecast future temperature with sun spot activity if it has been that accurate in the past? According to sun spot activity the temperature today is totally in line with what it should be. How come the temperature in the entire universe has risen (relatively) equal much as on earth? Does our SUVs cause temperature on Jupiter to rise?
Use some common sense! You do not need to be a rocket scientist to figure out that this can be nothing else than a HOAX. Please research it yourself. What does Al Gore and his elitist friends like Rothschild (banking family that arranged live earth event) to gain from this? Well, the new world bank will be founded on carbon credits, that is tax on everything that gives CO2 omissions, and it is easier to get away with these taxes if the people are lured to think it is to save the world when it is only about money, centralized control and more power to the elitist bankers. Al Gore has even a company that sells carbon credits! Is it not noble to pay voluntarily carbon credits to save the world, especially if it goes into his own company?
I do not want you to blindly believe me, please do your own research and use your own common sense and I am sure you will come to the right conclusion!
Ninja III: The Domination (1984)
The worst piece of crap I ever seen
You can only describe this with one word and that would be WOW!!! Wow, I really did not think piece of crap like this could ever be released. If you watch a movie titled ninja then you expect to see at least some cool martial artists, right? However, none of these guys know any martial arts whatsoever and it seems like they went to china and picked the first people they saw on the street and trained them for a day in martial arts, that's the level of their martial arts skills! The actors are way overacting, the special effects are ridiculous and there is not any plot that makes any sense. This is the worst martial arts movie I've ever seen and I have seen plenty!
The Exterminator (1980)
Braindead action...
This movie is plain stupid. A guy's friend get killed and this guy goes maniac on a random killing spree of scum of the earth such as child molesters, rapists and robbers. There is no connection between these killings; the only plot of this movie seems cold blood and raw graphical violence. I gave it 2 points because it has some nice explosions.
You could imagine the movie makers getting the idea for this movie from watching Friday the 13th movies and coming up with the idea: would it not be cool if the killed once had it coming instead of just being "innocent stupid teens"? No, it would not. You do not feel there is any hero in this movie and just wish they all would die.
Doom (2005)
A very positive surprise!
Most of the movies that are made into games tend often be really awful. I played Doom in my youth a lot so I felt obliged to watch this movie even though I had very low expectations. I thought this movie would completely lack any kind of story, would be filled with stupid 3D-sequences, a lot of shooting and gore. I thought that Sarge would end up to be the hero, while the rest where just there to be killed in gruesome deaths. I thought this movie was just made to please those die-hard computer nerds out there... I was fortunately very wrong.
The team-mates of Sarges platoon had surprisingly very different characters and you will be surprised to end up liking most of the crew and wish them the best. The story is not anything groundbreaking, but what do you wait from a horror-action movie? The movie manages to build up the suspense very well, has very good action scenes and there are some false scares and monsters showing up when you least expect it. There are also some surprising twists in the story, and also an ending that I did not see coming. There are some 3d-sequences for perhaps 2 minutes at the end to please the computer nerds, however I was surprised that these sequences end up suiting the movie very well even though it had a little "watching-somebody-play-computer" game feel.
If you like action-horror movies with suspense, then this is a movie you definitely not want to miss.
The Punisher (2004)
The worst directing i ever seen!
I remember seeing the original version with Dolph Rundgreen a long time ago and thinking it was a good film. I was excited to see how this new version would be like and had high expectations since this remake even scored better than the original! I was very annoyed from the first seconds of this film. The film was filmed in such dark places that you hardly could not see anything! Yes even when i did put brightness and contrast to full! It was almost night all time or the scenes were in rooms with no windows. Most of the action sceenes you could not see anything until there was an explosion and you could see something for a second! This made it extremely difficult to follow the plot, since you could not know who was in the scenes because of the darkness. Most of times you just saw some shadows. This is the worst directing i ever seen! The plot was a Darkman ripoff. If you have not seen this film, I suggest you stick with the original instead or go for Darkman! This movie is completely destroyed because of awful directing and production!
Exorcist II: The Heretic (1977)
Not any scary at all, but still a good adventure movie.
If you expect something like the first movie you will definitely hate this movie. When i saw the score on 3.3 i thought this movie would really suck badly and i had very low expectations on it, but i wanted to see the sequel.
While the first movie had a scary atmosphere and was concentrated to only a few landscapes/areas and had just a single plot(Reagan was possessed by a demon and it should be exercised out), this movie is different on every point. There are lots of subplots, lots of great landscapes and feels much more like an adventure movie á la "The Mummy" than it's prequel. The special effects are very poor compared to today's standard, but I think the ending was VERY GOOD!
I hope they will make some slight adjustments to the script and remake it as they did with the original. This film had overwhelming potential to become a classic like its original, unfortunately the director of this movie had no experience of making horror movies and the end result feels like an adventure movie made with a horror movie script!
6/10
Freddy vs. Jason (2003)
Not as good as i expected...
...due to lack of good deathscenes. The deathscenes are as unimaginative as in all "Friday the 13th" films, just plain hack and slash everything that moves with anything sharp. The fightscene between Jason and Freddy was indeed quite cool, but far to short. I do not recommend this to anybody else that is not a fan of these series. I thought it was quite entertaining, but not scary at all and it didn't give me any chills. I'll give it a 7/10.
Jason X (2001)
Maybe the best in the serie?
I've seen 1,2,4,5,6,7,10 in the serie and I must say that this one is definately the best one together with the first and sixth! It doesn't take itself to seriously and is WAY funnier than any friday the 13th movie has ever been. I think the idea to take this into outer space is brilliant, since it brings a whole new atmosphere to this outdated serie. I never been a big fan of friday the 13th movies and this surprised me big time! I give it 6,5/10
Freddy's Dead: The Final Nightmare (1991)
Funny and exciting!!
I read so much crap about this movie and i was extremely positively surprised when i saw this movie! The elmstreet spririt lives on in this film, but it has also some very funny moments in it. The ending was very strong and I am afraid that Freddy is really dead at this time, which is very sad since i enjoyed all the films in this serie!! I would rate this 8,5/10
Passions (1999)
Cheesy and predictable!!
One episode ends that a man goes in a room where a man is lying dead on the floor and it ends with him screaming... the next episode we found out that he was screaming because some broken glass are on the floor and he can't see the dead person beside the glass.... sooo predicable... the characters are even WAY DUMBER than the persons in a horrormovie...
Highlander: Endgame (2000)
Uh, the end already? where's the story?
I've saw Highlander3 from tv a couple of weeks ago and I thought it was a very good movie and was very anxious to see the sequel that got better reviews from most reviewers than it's prequel.
From the start to the end the only thought that goes through your head is "uhhh.. what's this? wow, nice swordfighting... pretty chick.. some nice swordfightning again... highlanders saying 'there can be only one' and then again some swordfighting... the film is over... uuuuuhh, what the heck was it at about".
I only seen this movie once, and at least after the first view I didn't see any story at all... btw, half of the movie is filled with "flashbacks" from the age of 1500-1700 and i found that very confusing. The first time i watched The Matrix i got the plot very well, but from this movie I didn't see any at all.
Only because of average acting and decent production I give this the score 2/10. The story is the crappiest I ever seen....
Terminator 2: Judgment Day (1991)
The best movie ever!!
This movie RUULES!! Great action, unbeatable story, great effects and Schwanzenegger!! If you like this movie then i also recommend you True Lies which is probably the second best action movie i've seen featuring Big-Arnie...
Blade Runner (1982)
strange movie
this movie is one of the strangest i ever seen. i've seen it once, and i never catched the red line (matrix i understood perfectly the first time i ever saw it, even without subtitles:), but this one not. the effects are very nice of it's time, but the story isn't that good. i loved the Bladerunner pc game(4cd) and had high expectations, but unfortunately this film is far away from what the game is...
