At half way through, I wanted to just call it a day! A daughter of a Professor, treated an artifact known to be a monumental find with such disrespect and disregard to her father's knowledge. Phoebe takes it to an illicit market to pay back her misdeeds, all along grinning and acting entitled and as it's all great fun. With a father of his stature and position, she was a great disappointment. Even a young Indy held artifacts in high esteem. She made the part laughable with few redeeming qualities. I thought her acting was not on the level of any of the others and actually found her distracting. And, Shanette, what was her purpose? Felt like no one would have missed her. Mad usually makes a good bad guy, but even he missed the mark in this lack luster script. The secondary characters were more enjoyable. I certainly wished that this last entry had some of the charm, humor and dedication to save antiquities as did in all the other previous showings. Maybe it was the poor script, unrealistic stunts for Indy at his age, lack of tongue in cheek scenes that endeared us to this franchise or Phoebe's poor over acting or lack of understanding what the movie is actually about ... still scratching my head why did the hire her for such a pivotal role?...but this move was more of a chore to watch than a joy. I'll finish it, out of respect for the great entertainment from the prior episodes I've enjoyed over the years, but I'm sad it wasn't better thought out or better casted.
Why in the world would he cast Tina Fey as a writer and lead actress. When she used humor, it failed horribly and when she attempted a dramatic scene, it was almost funny. Sadly, this is not up to par compared to other Poiret movie actor portrayals or especially with the TV series actor. The TV series nailed Poiret's mannerisms, his quiet detections, and his struggle to conceal emotional connection. KB is all about changing the original and incorporating his own interpretations instead of staying close to the original, and he over dramatizes Poiret, as well as directs some of the main characters to do the same. Just disappointing, since I've read most of Agatha Christie's novels.
After watching the first episode, I was appalled. The current cast are all annoying and incompetent. It's sad to see Food Network finding the dredges of society who are too clueless and spoiled to cook a simple meal. The contestants are loud, noisy, and some dressed for a circus! I can't believe anybody can get through life being this dumb when it comes to basic cooking. Also, long hair/wigs, acrylic/gel nails are unsafe and unsanitary in kitchens. So rich kids, adults, who can't cook anything make up the contestant mix. I shook my head when one girl said she didn't even buy her own toiletries. What is wrong with their parents. What a sad commentary on good parenting. What if they lost all their money? Parents should be raising their children and teaching them basic skills of survival like cooking, cleaning, hygiene, ethics and preparing them to be an asset to society. I'd be ashamed to see my child on a show exploiting their rich spoiled lazy ass lives. I didn't find one of them amusing or humorous, interesting, or worth wasting my time to watch this season.
