This movie had such fun theatrical elements and exaggerated characters. I was charmed by this incredible cast and all its quirky characters. I thought this movie was well-paced and genuinely funny, and I regret not watching it sooner because it was such a blast. I think films are sometimes afraid to stray away from reality or allow themselves the obscurity and ridiculousness that this film indulges in, and it makes me happy to see a movie so openly reject realism in favor of style and comedy. This felt like a really unique look at a high school experience, especially for young queer girls.
I didn't really like PJ though.

I felt close to these characters. I felt connected to Lady Bird on her journey of self-discovery through every cynical moment and bad decision. This felt like a really bittersweet story of what it means to come of age, through every embarrassing moment and regretful choice. These characters were well-written and thoughtful, and I can tell that they were so loved in the process of making this movie.
That being said, it's actually quite dull. Each time you think something more will happen we are whisked away. Nothing quite as intense or interesting as I expected and frankly I felt a little disappointed by the lackluster ending. I guess maybe the point is that we can't expect closure or reconciliation with the people we love or who we think may hate us-after all, those differences only happen because we want what's best for each other.
I wanted so badly for things to get better between Lady Bird and her mother but they never did. And I'm petty, so that's why I'm giving this a 3.5 out of 5.

I really can't get enough of expertly crafted and well-shot movies with an excellent soundtrack and just a minor queer element. That's what this film and Saltburn both felt like to me.
I really enjoyed Challengers for the incredibly talented cast, energetic score, and the little elements that tie this movie together. In its runtime it manages to build a very complex relationship between the main characters and builds a narrative so compelling I had to watch this multiple times. The attention to detail is so thrilling and this movie is so well crafted that it manages to make sports look entertaining-not just the match, but the mind games. This is one I just have to recommend to anyone even considering watching it.
