  • Not great, but not the worst

So much of this movie works. The sets are almost good-a little too much grey, maybe, but everything is fine for the budget. The costumes look like the dirt-hiding patterns they use on the cushions of bus seats, but that's better than not having any character at all. The monster looks cute, which was probably intentional. I have no idea what happened the whole time because I was too busy thinking about how typical the movie's plot is.

  • Don't Bother

This film has nothing going for it. The characters are uninteresting (obviously) and the situation that unfolds around them is stupid. It's like Nightmare on Elm Street 4 meets Return of the Living Dead, but without the charm of either film. Some fun imagery is made less interesting by the Satanic Panic tone of the whole movie. It's not as street smart as it wants to be.

  • Just a bunch of tropes

"Alien Messiah baby" is enough for a whole trilogy. This is what these movies are about and the scripts don't know how to focus on that aspect in a way that makes the movies interesting. They get lost in ridiculous action scenes, convoluted chases through dark hallways, whatever color and lighting trends are in style at the time of production, and pointless side characters who pop up in the world without bringing life to it. None of the characters are interesting, including our protagonist and the returning characters from the first film. Alien invasion movies don't need to suck this hard.
