The Super Mario Bros. Movie is an overall very fun and satisfying movie, but a lot of people seem to forget the fact that while it's not a problem for a game to not have much of a story, it is 100% a problem for a movie.
The animation is fantastic, the references are nostalgic and fun, the action scenes are great, it just needed more of an arc with each character. I liked most of the voice performances, but there were a few that didn't sit right with me. Namely Seth Rogen as Donkey Kong and Fred Armisen as Cranky Kong. Their performances weren't lazy, they just didn't suit the characters they were playing. Everyone else gave it their all. Chris Pratt's Mario was a decent surprise, Charlie day fits Luigi like a glove, Jack Black as Bowser stole the whole film, Anya Taylor Joy is a delight as Princess Peach, Keegan Michael Key acted his heart out as Toad.
Overall, it's a pretty good movie. The Sonic Movies are better CINEMA, but this is much more fun and better for a wider range of audiences.

I seriously cannot stress enough how much of a miracle this show is. Absolutely stunning and breath-taking animation that puts even the very best of Pixar to absolute shame, a phenomenal soundtrack and ways its utilised to tell the story, an incredible cast of characters that you will always root for in one way or another, all put together in an absolute masterpiece of television that immerses you in its world for 18 episodes straight while hardly ever faltering. The pacing isn't always perfect, but you'd have to be on some serious drugs to give this show anything less than an 8/10. I genuinely have never seen a show with this much passion, effort and love put into it before, and I doubt I ever will again. (Except for the next projects, of course.) Genuinely a masterclass of storytelling, animation and general television from beginning to end. It genuinely deserves every award it receives.
