    Stop exploiting autism.

    It's not cute. It's not quirky. It's not a fad. It's not a superpower.

You can't "all be a little bit autistic" no matter how "relatable" you find this.

Your leg might hurt sometimes but that doesn't mean it's broken and you should not take resources from people with actual broken legs.

Autism is a medical diagnosis and people aren't taking it seriously anymore because of misrepresentation and appropriation by TikTok fakers and stupid shows like this one.

I hope one day people will look back on this and understand how disgusting and damaging it really is. You're not some kind of ally by watching this show. You're contributing to a social landscape that is becoming outright impossible to navigate.

Imagine if the cast of EastEnders was real. All the banal drama exacerbated by stupidity and bad social skills that you see in Albert Square, but right there in your office.

Now imagine someone made a sitcom about it.

Now imagine that they REALLY wanted you to know how ~*special*~ and self-aware <3 they were being with it. They NEEDED you, the audience, to know that they weren't just a bunch of idiots making a TV show about idiots. They get it. They're meta. It's all totes ironic babes.

That's this show. It's trying too hard. I could almost hear it begging someone, anyone to like it and to just GET how qUiRkY™ it is.

I...guess there's an audience for that? I can't call it objectively bad. It's got positive reviews so obviously people like it. I'm just really not one of them. I'm calling it mid, 5*, cuz I think it's one that most people will either love or hate, and that averages out right here.

I did want to like it cuz I liked WWDITS and I'd heard they were similar in tone / obviously Natasia Demetriou is in both, but this really just feels flat and try-hard in comparison imo. It is a similar schtick tbh, but without the outlandish fantastical concepts it's just a bunch of shrill people yelling about nothing.

No one is likeable. That's arguably not an issue if the characters are well written and compelling but they're not. It's all very shallow and irritating.

First time I ever experienced, in real time, a game that I enjoyed being brigaded.

I played it when it came out. It was fun. Not groundbreaking, but fun. Unfortunately, every time I brought it up someone went off about how "terrible" it was. Every time I looked anything up online, same deal. It was a real bucket of ice water on that fun.

The pure hatred for this game was the most utterly disproportionate response to any game I'd seen before or since I think. You can still see some of it in the older reviews here, but the worst of it's died down since then. People seem to have warmed to it now that the negative hype is over, and at least that's something. Too late for the scrapped DLCs, but something nonetheless.

I'm replaying at the moment, and unfortunately that bad taste is still there for me. I will forever associate this game with how badly a bandwagon can impact general perception.

It's still fun though, in the moments when you can forget how crazy the response was at release this is and always was a fun game. The story's fine, the characters are generally likeable, the scenery is pretty, the combat is great. I am genuinely envious of anyone playing it for the first time today, unburdened by the association of being yelled at by frothing brigadiers at release. I hope you have the fun with this game that it always had the potential to give.
