"Almosting It" should be more recognized than it actually is. I'm a sucker for a high-quality indie film, and this was so high-quality and impressive, I couldn't even tell it was indie. Will Von Tagen is a great writer and actor, and his dynamic with Lee Majors felt geniune, almost like they were father and son or grandpa and grandson.
And the fact that Von Tagen made this film with the help of the citizens of Boise shows how much effort and dedication went into it. It's almost as if the city of Boise starred in this film.
At the time I am writing this review, I have seen the movie twice, and I honestly wish it was released on DVD, because I would love to own a copy of this film.

This movie may not have been an indie blockbuster like El Mariachi or Napoleon Dynamite, but it wasn't an absolute mess either! The writing was pretty solid and the actors did surprisingly good for non-professionals! The characters were also likeable and well-written, and the romance arc was a little cliché, but that's okay cliché is hard to avoid! And I saw the video that director Dillon Vibbart did on his YouTube channel, and after hearing about the stress that he put into this, it actually deserves more praise in my opinion! It may be hard to notice, but there was definitely a significant amount of effort put into producing this thing! It was a really solid movie and I would watch again for sure!
The original Hotel Transylvania is a CLASSIC, and a movie that I feel like anyone could enjoy. But the franchise went downhill movie by movie, and I doubt it could get any worse than this. Great premise, but poorly written. And Adam Sandler and Kevin James's absences don't help at all. I think the lesson is really good, and the animation is good as usual, but there is nothing else I like about this movie. It is a literal dumpster fire. It's also a really fun way to ruin a classic franchise that was once amazing. Now, I can't even watch the original movie without thinking about this worthless price of garbage.
