I have watched several Japanese movies. Most are pacing, boring, ridiculous, and sometimes irrelevant, including this one. Not too much horror in it, half of the movie is about what really happened in Inunaki Mura. Most Japanese horror movies these days don't really want to scare you, they take you on a journey to see things that behind what is happening. For example, do you think you are going to see how the spirits in Inunaki Mura possess and murder people, with excessive violence and gore? No, it's gonna show you what happened to the village and why it no longer exists, and why the spirits are so vengeful. Japanese horror movies are very different to American and European horror movies, e.g. Japanese horror movies don't have much violence, gore and profanity. They also don't really have a great makeup department to make ghosts/spirits/creatures as scary as possible. They are more interested in "the whole story". People who love it will love it very much but those who don't, they will just "leave the cinema when it's still playing". Viewers who watched this also watched: Jukai Mura and Vshikubi Village.
It was great in general. Season 1 was okay but season 2 especially the case of the Atlanta child murderer was a bit "unreasonable" to be, as some of what Holden said didn't really make sense to me. So sad to see it discontinue. Netflix cancelled it due to budget limits.
So the plot is just two FBI agents use psychology , behavioural science and actual evidence to help the police catch criminals, while studying and learning those aforementioned subjects from criminals who committed series crimes. The series is to tell people that peoples minds are complex and unpredictable, you never know what they are thinking and what they are going to do. Mentally-ill people are everywhere. The series features some serial killers and rapists who have the darkest minds that drive them do unimaginable crimes. What we can learn from them is who, why, when and how they do it, so we can study them and apply what we learn to other crimes to be solved. The whole series are very gritty and depressing, because all you see are rapists and serial killers, and their unremorseful attitudes. I had to pause for a while when watching e10 of s01 because of the crime the suspect committed and what Holden Ford said during the interview, which made me really uncomfortable. Those people who claim they have watched "gritty, dark, depressing" tv series must haven't watched this one yet.

Was on my watchlist for ages. Now finally got to watch this. So the original plan was to make a reboot. Instead, they decided to make a tv series that was inspired by the OG. I actually agreed that they decided to make a tv series not a reboot. So much to see in the series, not just exorcism. While they brought new ideas into the series, they also paid tribute to the OG. A bit annoyed that they cancelled the show. Also, what's with the filmmakers and their "political correction" these days. That's particularly the case in season 2. Can't even enjoy a tv series without seeing some actors with Chinese heritage these days. You are letting them taste on your women now? See your GP, sadists, yellow fetishists.
