Excellent tv series. The Chernobyl nuclear disaster was one of the worst men-made incidents in history. I spoke to a friend of mine who was from Russia, and he agreed that the tv series accurately depicted the incident in general. Watched so many disaster movies/tv series before, never got into them because they were purely fictional. Even a lot of those which were based on the true stories were like, weren't made with care and dedication to me. Not only was this based on a true event, it also dives into some social phenomena like, truth & lies, human kindness, due diligence, love & sacrifice and etc. It also explores how humans react to disasters (e.g. Those soldiers who eliminate animals, the female farmer who refuses to displace, miners who risk their own lives to dig a tunnel underneath the Core, scientists, soldiers, government officials and etc.). Do you see this in every "based on true events" movies and tv series? Well rarely. To me, the tv series was made with heart.
I Loved the cinematography, screenplay, film setting (especially the view of the 80's, how the city looked like after the incident took place and the atmosphere of the Soviet Unions) and etc. Loved the ending credit scene in the finale to give us some true facts about the incident. Loved how the series presented a Hollywood character in the finale to indicate a big global event of the dissolution of the Soviet Union. It would be much better if we could let the actors/actresses speak Russian instead of English. Tribute to all the victims of the Chernobyl incident. Salute to all those who lent a hand and helped.
