How often do we anticipate a sequel to a film that we really loved? Maybe the Marvel Universe has beaten that anticipation out of us. Why did I think that 'The Old Guard 2' would not fall into the Marvel Universe trap?
I rather like Charlize Theron starring on the big screen. She was surrounded by a more than ample cast in the original 'Old Guard'. And yet none of them delivered in the not even ordinary '2'.
I waded through the first hour and fifteen minutes last night before turning off the TV and going to bed. When I started watching again, I had to fight the urge to just turn it off and move on to something more promising.
I rated the original slightly above the IMDB score. I rated '2' well below its score.
Finally, it is over. Time to wash away the memory.

I found snippets that interested me in this endless loop of a miniseries. There were so many possible off ramps that might have been of interest; all of them were missed.
Why did I last through to the end of the series? Something else occupied my time while I watched and listened. Why? Because it was in English and a foreign language series would have demanded much closer attention.
If one wanted to make the point that Christianity during that age had little or nothing to do with anything we might consider as Christian value, we could have gotten there in well under an hour. Sadly, we're living through another moment where American Christianity is no more than cruelty packaged in misguided words. If that was the point...
