We took our 11 year old for his birthday, as he loves the graphic novels. He's AuDHD, so a good indication that SA movie or show has his attention is his need to move around to properly absorb the content. I've never seen him so still during a movie. He didn't get out of his chair once, and that has never happened before. He also didn't laugh, and I didn't hear any of the other kids in the theatre (which was full) laugh either. My husband actually fell asleep. The animation was adorable, the voice acting was fine, but something was missing. Kiddo said he liked it, but hasn't spoken about it since, which means it made absolutely no impact on him. If you like it, fine, but it was a miss for us, and I wish we had waited for streaming.
This is my toddlers current obsession, and my older kiddo likes it too. Some of the negative reviews are confusing; not everything needs to be teaching math and letters to be educational. One of my favourite things about this show is the use of "yet". Gabby is frequently heard saying "I don't know... yet!" This teaches resilience and to not give up. There is a lot of social-emotional learning going on in this show, and that's great.
The animation is so cute, and I love how all the characters have a unique style. Each episode sticks with one theme, so it's easy for little ones to follow along. The songs are catchy and keep music loving kiddos engaged. My toddler really likes that there is a real cat in the live action sections. Floyd is definitely a favourite.
Overall, this is a show I feel good putting on for my kids.
