Only just watched this in 2025. Always thought it was a "boring jail movie" but it's so much more than what the previews indicated it would be.
Morgan and Tim are their usual brilliant selves but the entire cast is exceptional. Each and every central character has purpose and adds to the flavour of the film.
The storyline us interesting and takes you on turns you couldn't foresee.
The pace, somewhat slow and steady, is purposeful also and at the conclusion you feel rewarded too.
I appreciate this isn't everyone's cup of tea but if you like a good storyline and appreciate the art of filmmaking then this is a must see masterpiece.

Just rewatched this again (in 2025) and it still delights.
Sure some of the acting is over the top and the storyline is cheesy and unrealistic but leave that behind and just enjoy.
This movie isn't trying to be too much more than it is meant to be. It's meant to be fun and entertaining and it does just that.
Goldie and Kurt, who were (and still are) married, sizzle with chemistry- even when she apparently "hates" him.
The fashion is wild. The hair is crazy. The 80s come to life again through both and in this unlikely tale from simpler times.
I loved it when it first came out and I thoroughly enjoyed it again.

Couldn't finish it. Cant remember the last time i literally couldn't get through a film. Even my kid told me to stop it half way through.
Zero storyline. Pathetic DEI cast with no charisma or charm at all. The only saving grace was the singing even though most of the songs were completely forgettable.
There wasn't much to hold onto after having sat through the thing for an hour. There really wasn't much happening and what had occurred wasn't just unbelievable, it was downright stupid.
If a crocodile can sing, why can't he talk?
I appreciate this was a book that sadly (or is it?) our family hasn't read but the film had no charm.
