Reviewer of movies. Author of metaphysical books How to Kiss the Universe and Toward the Ultimate Source.

Jozef Simkovic came to the United States in 1987 as a refugee from Czechoslovakia which was still governed by the communist regime at that time. After settling in the United States with his family, he spent most of his time in the country working as a radio journalist for the Slovak Service of The Voice of America. Later after the Slovak Service was closed, he continued work as a broadcasting engineer for VOA. In 2003, he was awarded the VOA Gold Medal for bringing the news to his native country of Slovakia in a meaningful way and entertaining fashion. He considered his work for VOA to be his life mission, but later during his engineer years, he discovered his even more important destiny while taking part in numerous meditation programs at the famous Monroe Institute in Virginia. His extensive diary from these programs and other countless meditations became the foundation for his books.

Before coming to the United States, Jozef Simkovic completed the study of radio and TV broadcasting technology at the Slovak Technical University in Bratislava and a postgraduate study of computer programming at the Czech Technical University in Prague. He worked as Deputy Chief in the Computer Center of the Slovak Broadcasting Technology and Operations Company. Jozef Simkovic was the middle weight karate champion of Czechoslovakia in 1976.

  • Nice poignant story about how some of us could approach the end of the world coming

The 1998 classics "Armageddon" and "Deep Impact" are some of my favorite movies about what the mankind as a whole and individuals could do when facing sudden extinction. This movie is like those two contemplating destructions of the planet by devastating asteroids. However, my wife compared it to 2012 "Seeking a Friend for the End of the World" pointing at its poignant character. She had to explain to me what "poignant" meant, but I bet you knew. Regardless of that when watching this nice romantic, yet still dystopian science fiction one would have to ponder what to do when something like that is happening and only a few days of life would be left. There is no doubt that many people would be scared, panicking and yes, violent and selfish. The creators of this movie decided to put the usual, expected violence like portrayed in many other dystopian movies just on the sidelines. The story's spine is focused on developing the relationship between two young protagonists Michael and Rose who were put into such a situation by accidental extraordinary circumstances. My wife loved that, because she hates violence in science fiction dystopias.

I just love the title "When I'm Ready", because I am any time. Not only because I am old, but also because I prepared myself for the afterlife. I gained knowledge about the other side by intensive metaphysical preparation. I wish I would know all of that earlier in my younger years. I would be free of fear of dying, especially of sudden dying, and could have an even more fulfilling life than I had. That question about being ready is there for everyone, whether young or old. What about you? Are you ready? One day everyone will have to go. Believe me, if you can answer that question positively, "Yes, I am ready", you might find more happiness and fulfillment in your life than you have, whether asteroid or some similar catastrophe comes or not. Even though this new 2025 movie is an illusion indeed, it is a good time to see it and ponder for yourself. Besides that, it is a great entertaining romance for anyone.

  • Great incarnation story in this movie made almost 40 years ago, revolutionary for its time

My wife and I found this story just by lucky click when she was suggesting some movies for our weekly movie night. Or did it appear on the screen intentionally? We both jumped on it when we read just short Amazon Prime's description. It is a great reincarnation touching chick flick, but I must admit crying several times. There are as many heavens in the astral plane as many different imaginations created by many different religions and other belief systems. From fundamentalist concrete Christian beliefs about pearly gates and Jesus sitting on the right side of God all way up to loosen foggy images and claims than no one can know how the heaven looks like. As one of my Muslim friends told me no one can imagine the absolute beauty and goodness in the heaven. However, I am afraid that all such imagination is form based. That is how most people understand reality, because we perceive it like that here on our planet. Yet there is much more in metaphysical reality, which is unlimited. However, this 1987 movie was quite advanced to its time long before metaphysics and spirituality of New Age became popular.

The tragically departed protagonist Emmet encounters beings (souls, or consciousness forms, you choose) in his heaven, looking completely like people on Earth and most of them look happy or sometimes just faking it. He meets heavenly beautiful Ally who never incarnated on Earth and is curious about it. And Emmet falls in love. The souls going to incarnate on Earth can be like Ally, never being here, but there are also one-timers and repeaters. I am the habitual repeater and now having enough I do not want to and will not come back. I also met my second wife before we were incarnated here. We met in the astral plane area (in sort of a heaven) where we were helping people going to Earth to be more loving and compassionate. Then I left that place being bored and she followed me later. Thanks to good luck we met in Slovakia. The falling in love was quick and wild. Unfortunately, after immigrating to United States, we were unable to cherish our marriage and crashed it. If you want to know what happened to Emmet and Ally, you must see this masterpiece to know the rest of their story.

  • Brazilian masterpiece about development of a departed human soul on astral plane

I have not read spiritual traveler Chico Xavier's bestseller book "Astral City". This great movie based on that book describes struggles of human soul departed from physical Earth in astral areas of metaphysical reality. Although the astral plane has many different levels and vast areas, it generally reflects the forms and happenings we remember from physical life on our planet. The forms and happenings described by this story are similar like stories described by participants of programs at The Monroe Institute in Virginia. While watching the movie, my wife and I were speculating that maybe Chico Xavier went there or at least was familiar with their techniques of exploring spirituality. Protagonist Dr. Andre Luiz encounters several aspects of growing up or regrowing one's soul after physical death, which are known to variety of spiritual explorers using inspirations not just form The Monroe Institute, but also from other similar research organizations, perhaps I can mention The Newton Institute. Regression hypnotherapists, psychics and others working individually with clients report similar experiences.

The movie well describes where we can end up when we brought to the other side with us different guilt feelings, when we died violently or after struggles full of suffering. If we did not believe in the afterlife and we were not getting ready for it, we might not know what to do and become desperate and suffer even more than on Earth. We can have strong faith that someone will be there waiting for us to give us a hand, but it is not guaranteed. The regeneration center and park were in the movie strikingly similar as me and my wife encountered during our travels beyond physical reality. Dr. Luiz, during his studies in Astral City meets some people whom he knew on the Earth, and they are in the afterlife as well, but also the teachers who patiently and systematically lead him into transformation from his earthly selfish and ignorant essence to loving and compassionate being. This movie gave me great personal inspiration. Although I am fully ready for my afterlife and know exactly what to do, somewhere deep in my soul I kept my little bitterness regarding my second divorce. Like Dr. Luiz released it, I did the same with the hope that my ex-wife was happy all long years after our divorce and now genuinely am wishing her all the best for the rest of her life on our planet and afterwards. Maybe this movie can help you soften your heart if you have similar issue as I have had.
