So V/H/S/Beyond serves as now the SEVENTH installment in the long-running horror anthology franchise that began in 2012. This entry focuses on elements of alien and sci-fi horror in which we see alien creatures, dog/human-hybrids, and many UFOS. Personally, I enjoyed a majority of the segments this installment had to offer! The only segment I didn't really care for however, was the "Fur Babies" (the human/dog-hybrid segment) in which a psycho animal shelter Caretaker becomes obsessed with turning naughty humans into her good subservient dog/hybrids. This short segment, directed by Justin Long (should've known from his movie "Tusk") has got to be the WEAKEST of the entire film! Every other segment in this installment worked beautifully for the overall theme of the movie, EXCEPT for the "Fur Babies" segment, that was the only one that (to ME) didn't belong here.
There isn't really a ton to say about this film without spoiling the segments, but honestly as a hardcore horror fan who has a mild interest in aliens and UFOs, I have to say that besides the "Fur Babies" segment, all of the short films worked!! I especially like the one where the woman travels out to the desert to investigate lights in the sky and then ends up following one that fell to the ground, only to discover it was one of the aliens' spaceships that they landed. Stupidly enough, the girl enters the ship and looks around and what she finds inside the ship is ANYTHING but normal! In fact, the filmmakers went out of their way to make it look more original and mysterious than your typical flying saucer look. This segment being titled "Stowaway" - I like how they showed what happens to a human body when travelling in a spaceship that moves at the speed of light itself! The effects were priceless on that! I also enjoyed the segment (I forget the title of it) in which a group of adults are in an airplane getting ready to skydive when they all witness a UFO flying alongside them in the skies. They crash into one of the UFOs which causes them all to fall from the aircraft and into a large orange orchard field. There, the remaining survivors who didn't die in the fall or get injured, end up being terrorized and murdered viciously by an alien-like creature who uses a beam of light to skin its victims. The gore and suspense on this one made it MY TOP short film segment of this V/H/S entry.
Overall, if youre someone who has a harcore love for horror, found footage films, or even have a mild interest in aliens and UFOs... then I would say V/H/S/Beyond is probably for you! However, this IS still a V/H/S movie so therefore it WILL reach some points where it goes a little too far and becomes a little too ridiculous...but I think that's what keeps the fans coming back to this series! It goes from 0 to 100 REAL quick!
I gotta say, V/H/S/BEYOND was no masterpiece when it comes to sci-fi horror, but it definitely IS an enjoyable, bloody fun time! Don't take it too seriously and you may like it even more! Not the best V/H/S installment to be released... but it definitely wasn't the worst either! Definitely much more entertaining than both V/H/S: VIRAL and V/H/S/94 (both which were boring as heck).
My final rating for V/H/S/BEYOND is a solid 9 out of 10 stars (I took a star away because of the "Fur Babies" segment, I just didn't like that one much). Every other segment, SPOT ON!

I kept seeing "Mr. Crocket" pop up on my Hulu channel for the past 6 months now, so I finally decided to watch it last night. Needless to say (for starters), I'm glad I finally DID watch it. Now, I will admit, it's definitely no masterpiece, it's not award winning material by ANY means. However... that doesn't mean it's not enjoyable! We ultimately watch movies to be entertained, and entertaining THIS was! It held my attention the entire way, the acting was passable, the story was almost top-tier, and the production value was actually very well done for a low-budget film like "Mr. Crocket." Some great laughs, great gore scenes, great special/practical effects, a pretty solid villain, and some genuinely creepy moments (his smile was always creepy every time he did it). I also love how the film's ultimate message was about how kids vs. Adults see reality and perceive it while both are being manipulated by a greater evil.
Again, it's no award-winning masterpiece, but overall it was original, watchable, and entertaining! I enjoyed it for what it was! If you see this movie streaming for free (which it currently is on Hulu), then I would recommend giving this a shot if you're a big fan of old school themed horror films!
My rating for "MR. CROCKET" (2024) would have to be a solid 9 out of 10 stars. I set my expectations low, and watched it through to the end feeling pleasantly surprised!
