  • Quit Early: Too Much "NOISE" On the Screen

I have always enjoyed awards shows, and I have also loved sports for the entirety of my life. What do the two have to do with each other, though? It turns out that I can no longer watch either because of all the extra "noise" that comes with the media coverage Would "over-produced" be the correct word?

By God, I turned off this year's Golden Globes less than halfway through because:

    1. The TV station's watermark (Hey, at least there was only one during this program!) covered the faces of the nominees as they were announced.

    2. The Google Maps-like arrow that glimmered while showing where each nominee was sitting was irritating.

    3. The "fun facts" that were written beneath presenters and winners were unneeded. I'm a huge reader, but this isn't the place or time for reading. It is a time for listening and observing what is taking place in the moment.

I could go on and on.

Do we really need all of these distractions?

Sure, some do. But they have these fancy computers in their hands to keep them entertained while keeping the Golden Globes on in the background. Some of us can't filter out the endless extra stimulation, and some of us don't want to. I've decided Until there's an option to choose to watch these programs without "spam," I'll choose be fine without awards shows and sports coverage in my life.
