Set on the beautiful Galapagos islands this is a story of escaping the rat race for nature and a more serene lifestyle.
Its all based on a true story and takes inspiration from a silent movie made in the 1930s by a wealthy American who used to visit the island on his boat and got friendly with the couple who lived there.
A family then decide stay on the island followed by a baroness who plans to build a hotel.
Three sets of neighbours on an island creates a situation that is a very interesting watch and involves murder and intrigue.
The setting of the film is a cinematic treat, the film is not full of action but it does have some intense moments and has you thinking from the off about how we get on in society and the struggle of neighbours you don't like so much.
The philosopher, the working man and the manipulator struggle to see eye to eye and small power struggle ensues. This is a very well filmed and put together movie, the tension and suspense builds at nice pace bit for some this will be too slow.
There is more than enough source material for this film and it seems to play out as history has it written using letters, the silent film and records available.
Its a solid 8/10 films like this are rare these days.

This plays out in a futuristic world but except some basic exposition you will be hard pressed to see any sort of visual representation of the future.
This suggests a limited budget, thats fine you can style it out a bit... Or you try and make things look futuristic in a really cheap and poor way. This is mainly done by putting large lcd screens on random objects ( Otherwise known as green screen ).
It looked good in Running man ( 1987 ) so why not.
The premise is an ultimate fighter tournament, fighting for honour but more so their faith !!
I'm not entirely sure how this all works but the people on the big screens say it does and the big cheeses running the show believe it will.
The fighters train and its looking quite good, an outdoor mountainous/enter the dragon setting looks promising. Rather than train however our hero watches more exposition on the big screen on the side of a hut.
The actual ultimate fighting takes place in a blue warehouse/gymnasium with them jigsaw foam mats on the floor, surrounded by only a few reporters and the fighters ' trainers ' sat on gym benches around the edges of the warehouse/gymnasium.
So obviously the fighting is going to be superb.... Im afraid not, ive seen better performances on an amateur stage. Slow choreographed fights where every kick and punch looks like its part of a strange dance.
Luckily there isn't too many fights to get through.
There is however lots and lots of political and faith based conversations between everyone else in this film. Their own beliefs really don't matter though because Absolute Dominion will be won by the victor !!
Oh Alex Winter is in this but not ( so far ) credited with a character name ( he plays the coach btw )
I knew it was going to be a dud from the first 10 minutes but I had 'faith' and stuck with it. By the end I'd lost faith that anyone involved in this film had a clue what they were doing.
A 2 or 3 out of 10.

A 2 or 3 out of 10.
Clown in a Cornfield !
Clowns are scary and cornfields are synonymous with murders so you might be expecting a killer clown in a cornfield ??
You are correct !
As far as teenage slasher films go its not the worst out there and it makes a stylistic choice to be a bit tongue in cheek without everything being obvious.
The FX are pretty well done, the acting is hammy but works and the pacing is good.
Get your snacks and beer ready and watch with friends.
Having a slumber party, watch this.
Lads night in, you are good to go.
If your in the mood for this type of film you cant go too far wrong.
6/10.
