  • I lasted 25 minutes - I really wanted to enjoy it!

I really wanted watch a great film but it was pretty dull and had an odd cheesy soundtrack. The music was constant and with lots of strings that felt like they'd been created on a bad keyboard. Spike is known for his soundtracks so I was surprised

Denzil is one of my favourite actors but he couldn't save this film. It was a an odd thing I wanted it to be good but it just ticked along and some of the acting felt a bit straight to dvd if I'm honest.

I suspect it may be one of those films where there a back story to it and a rreason it wasn't great.

    Such a shame.

  • I can't decide whether this is genius or really bad! And the reviews show that!

Once in a while, a film comes along that defies easy definition and leaves you feeling... well, a bit confused. The American Society of Magical Negroes is one of those. It flirts with light comedy but isn't quite funny enough to land. It hints at superhero elements but never fully commits. There's a romantic thread and some sharp social commentary around race and identity, yet none of it really sticks. It's like several films trying to happen at once - and as a result, it all feels a bit flat. Ambitious? Yes. Effective? Not quite. A fascinating misfire that leaves you wanting more coherence and less concept.

  • If you're a parent you'll enjoy it ignore the miserable reviews!

Honestly people are so miserable in these reviews. It's not particularly original it is kind of Mr and Mrs Smith but with a seven seater car and two grumpy teens! It's fun, great fight scenes and good music too. It's not going to change the world and it won't win any awards but it is good for Netflix!

Funny at times, well observed and.just fun. There are lots of baddies, the occasional twist and it has a big budget too - as some of the chase scenes are very big - both on the streets and in the water.

Filmed in the US and London it has character too and the design and lighting and photography department did a great job.

Disengage your brain, grab some popcorn and have a laugh. Enjoy.
