  • Where it shines, it shines. Where it flops, it flops.

I want to start off by saying that I went into this movie blind. I did watch a trailer a while back, but I completely forgot about any plot details or major scenes. I was most excited by the dinosaurs I'd see, and the fact that it was made by Gareth Edwards. Lets just say, the movie spiked my curiosity and interest.

The movie started well, we get introduced to characters, we get our simple plot, yada yada... Definitely an interesting choice to include all new characters, since I think this has never happened before in the franchise. The movie did do well on that subject. The characters had a personality and depth, were interesting, and I was definitely rooting for them. The actors did a good job, not that it stood out or anything, but still good.

Halfway into the movie, we of course get introduced to the setting, the dinosaurs, scary scenes, you know. Typical Jurrasic Park stuff. The pacing was good, the VFX of the dinosaurs and the island were good, so now it just comes down to how well it will execute.

And oh god, did it do well.

The thrilling scenes stood out MAGNIFICENT. Anyone who watched the movie will know. I don't know how, I guess it was the combination of the overall setting of the movie and the intriguing characters, but DAMN were those scenes thrilling as hell. My heart was racing, and the dinosaurs had a very big and scary scale to them somehow. They all felt very fresh and new in the franchise. I am hoping for this movie these scenes get the praise they deserve.

This went on until the end, but this is where the movie starts flopping.

The end REALLY and I mean REALLY was rushed. It's like they used all their passion for the rest of the movie, and at the end realized they didn't have any more time. The characters have little to no conclusion, they're just like this now. I guess I'll have to figure out myself how their story concludes. It all just happened really fast. I was sad to see it ended like that.

The ending of course also gave a big middle finger to the plot. It was good, but the ending left it open and just made the plot a reason for the thrilling scenes to happen just so we could get some satisfaction out of it, if that sounds logical?

Still, next to the ending, I think the movie was good. Definitely stood out from the franchise and a step up from the previous movie. If you like Jurassic Park and want some fresh dinosaur action with at least some intriguing characters, check it out, totally! (but don't set the stakes THAT high plot wise) Even if you aren't into Jurassic Park, the thrilling scenes will blow you away.

A very solid movie in the franchise, worth checking out. I hope it will stand out as a good movie overall. :)

NOTE: as I was exiting the cinema, I heard some discord mod looking people complain about how bad it was just like dominion. A "cash grab". I mean, yea, it's why they made yet another movie, but surely they have never watched dominion. You can't compare this movie to dominion, in my personal opinion.

  • Season 1 + 2 review: Squid game is still pulling it off

When I first saw season 1 after it came out, I already loved the show and it's vibe, until the internet kinda ruined Squid Game's image. Now most just think of the silly life or death games when they hear Squid Game, but I feel like people are missing out on the show. (I might be wrong, I just don't know anyone that genuinely enjoyed the show)

Season 1 starts off strong. Likeable characters, thrilling sequences, great overall vibe and pacing,.. It's the reason it got so popular anyways. Some might find season 1 a bit less to their liking, which I get. The beginning and ending are a bit slowly paced, and sometimes the show itself got a little unhinged. Apart from that, season 1 is great when it comes to setting up the ending and the start of season 2.

Season 2 starts off, again, slowly paced, but for a good reason. It sets the tone and the actions of our characters well. Some might not like the slow pace, which I get, (because we don't get to the games instantly) but they did very well for me.

When the games begin, the show got its season 1 vibe again. The new games, the (once again) great new characters, the emotion, the thrills,... I personally loved it through the whole thing. Apart from still having the season 1 vibe, it had its own "charm". The tone was different, which I think some might not like. For example, the setting isn't only the games itself, but also outside of that (sometimes) and the rules of the games changed a bit, but I think that opened up great new opportunities, and it delivered.

The ending was thrilling, but it missed that thrill that the games usually had. It had less impact on me than I thought. Still great to kick off season 3, I hope.

If you liked season 1, you will like season 2. If you think Squid Game is a silly show which just had impact on youtube shorts and brainrot content, reconsider.

  • I need a boiling hot minute for this one

Go watch the movie without watching any trailers, or finding out how the concept works. That's how I did it, and I think it would make your expectations better.

The first act made me really interested. It had an original style, the concept was great and just unique overall. I think this movie totally delivered in the second and third act and they made the most out of the idea.

The movie was, in my opinion, crazy. It's just constant fear of whatever crazy thing might happen next. If you are expecting messed up horror, set your expectations low, because it's mainly psychological and brain scratching. I seriously needed a hot minute after watching this to process it all. Heck, I'm still not even sure I understood 100%.

The movie itself has great sound and soundtrack, and beautiful lighting that sets the tone perfectly. The acting is honest and good, it makes it all believable, which it really had to be.

Maybe the movie might be too hard to understand for some, which I would totally get. If you want a complicated but thrilling movie, go watch it. I think it was worth the watch.
