I get the impression that this series was intended to lead into a reboot of Stargate SG-1 as it seems unable to decide if it's adhering to or revising the existing narrative.
Characters and events from the movie and the tv show appear but the events depicted largely conflict with what's established in a way that uproots entire origins of the Stargate program.
I could have accepted that it was a reimagining but near the end there's an event that clearly only exists to tie it back into the movie and justify its entire conflict.
This might have been excusable if it had good characters but the three main characters are generally unlikable, in ways that probably fit with their time period, but unlikable none the less.
Can't recommend it to a Stargate fan nor as a standalone for someone who isn't familiar with the source.
