  • Style Without Substance

I watched the first season of Snowfall, and honestly, it was a struggle to get through. By the middle of the season, I already felt bored - but something kept me going. Maybe it was the solid cinematography, the nice color palette, or a few interesting characters. Visually, it's well done.

But beyond that, I just couldn't buy into the story. It feels too simple, naive, and at times even silly. I didn't understand the motivation behind most of the characters - like, 80% of them made no sense to me. There's barely any depth, and some characters don't even get a surface-level development. Maybe things improve in later seasons, but after 10 episodes, the show had plenty of time to convince me to keep watching - and it didn't.

The acting is also hit or miss. Some performances feel flat and unconvincing, especially the female roles - they just don't carry enough emotional weight or realism. It all ends up feeling forced and superficial.

Even the lead role didn't impress me. The main character is supposed to be this ruthless, street-smart drug dealer, but the actor looks more like a confused teenager. There's a huge disconnect between how he looks and what the story demands of him. It's hard to take him seriously when he's doing all these dark, violent things - the performance just doesn't sell it.

I've seen people compare Snowfall to The Sopranos or Breaking Bad, and I honestly don't get it. Those shows are on a completely different level. Snowfall feels like a watered-down version - more like a high school drama trying to play in the big leagues. It doesn't have the depth or complexity to justify six seasons. Based on season one, I'm giving it a 4/10.

  • A Long Ride to Nowhere

I started Sons of Anarchy thinking it might be something special. At first, it reminded me of The Shield - fast-paced, gritty, and kind of exciting. But the deeper I got, the more it fell apart. By the middle of season two, I gave up.

The show just drags. Way too many episodes, not enough real story. It's packed with drama, but most of it feels pointless. The characters aren't well-developed, and the emotional depth - especially in family relationships - is seriously lacking. That kind of stuff matters to me, and here it's either missing or barely touched.

Compared to The Sopranos, which nails the complexity of family - father-mother, parent-kid dynamics, all of it - Sons of Anarchy feels like a shallow, never-ending action soap. It's trying to be intense, but ends up feeling kind of dumb.

The one thing I'll give it credit for? The soundtrack. It's genuinely great. Just wish the rest of the show lived up to it.
