The series is very beautifull with a good ambiance and it captivated many people for that reason. The material is also worth it if I refer to the reader reviews.

Nevertheless, we have to be franck: the anime rushed things for what seemed to be an already complex set of novels. This resulted in a terrible Bulghur wheat mix which was higly indigest. Even with the explanations in parallel on youtube or in forums, it was not an enjoyable experience.

If the anime had an intermediate level of production it would have finished in the abyss but overall the chara design seems to be prevalent for people who write reviews...

Watcher from the first series when I was 10 to 12 years old, I also read the full manga (twice) and did a rewatch of the whole original series in the mid 2000's.

Now I quite enjoy watching this with my daughter (10 years old also so the loop is finished). Not only do I like the anime but I also enjoy seing my children launghing at the same misunderstandings and jokes!

The reboot is quite in synch with the manga and has also quite taken from the original series of anime. Yes the hair color for Ranma/girl has changed (but Rumiko didn't quite think it was faithful to the colored panels from the manga at the time) and we have some level of censorship (nipples mainly) while still maintaining the nudity but those are not really quite that bothering.

Another difference is the choice of including textured panels, some changes of colors/contrasts in some scene and we have quite a few interjections which are reminders of the manga. I think it is quite interesting, rather than obnoxious.

Lastly we need to speak about the things which are better here as I saw many bad reviews on this anime solely based on the love for the old one. The old anime was far from perfect: We had a lot of fillers, the pace was slow and some episodes were just not interesting. Also we lacked some very important arcs from the manga. In addition as, it was older, the old animation had a retro feel which was attractive for us but it was quite less appealing for the younger public.

Here the pace is quite faster, which is not a sacrifice to the story. It is quite dynamic and I think it will help prevent some episodes with a lower rating. Also it will help advance in the manga quite faster, which in turn will allow us (let's hope) to have a full manga animated.

Lastly this anime allows quite a few new young people to have access to this wonderful series which itself is quite a win in my point of view.
