No, I did not expect horrible and gruesome scenes of the mass executions. But after I heard so many people raving about this movie I thought it must be intense and almost unbearable. But frankly, I was bored most of the time which is crazy given the topic. But for me, the movie did not manage to deliver the overwhelming feeling people must have had in that situation, all the desperation, and it didnt even make me angry. Perhaps the acting and screenplay were not convincing? The production felt a bit cheap and almost everyone just acts like a bystander, very passive. And what I found worst ist that Mladic was depicted as quite a nice guy. I was seriously shocked. I have seen many movies with difficult topics like this and each left me baffeled and angry, but this movie didnt manage to do so. But thats just my unbiased opinion based on the screenplay and directing. I think many who watched it were affected personally by this horrible crime,or at least there is a family trauma hence the movie is perceived in a totally different and more intense way.

When I started watching this, I expected some sort of whydunnit/whodunnit. But thats not what you get. Each episode focuses on someone else and let me tell you, the murder or the 'who/why' is not the focus of the story. It is about how the murder affected the boys family and what is going o in schools nowadays. The series also does not focus on the killed girl or anything about the murder. First episode is about the boy, second about the school, third about the boy, forth about his family. As already mentioned, is not about the trial, the murder case or the why. I still dont know why all of this happened. So this should have been labelled as a drama. It was very slow, there was zero tension. No doubt, the acting, directing and everything else related to the screenplay was superb, seriously. The choice of music, the shots. Really good. But thats it. It was merely a veeery slow drama about well, tbh, I still dont know.
