This movie begins by revealing the everyday lives of three main characters, Jules Daly who works in an antique shop repairing clocks and porcelain figurines. Milo, her nephew, has resorted to typical teenage pranks and shenanigans. Maddie, her niece, has developed a neurotic codependency due to feeling isolated without her parents and needing to cope with the fact that Jules spends hours away from home while at work. Just as things seem to be spiraling out of control, Milo's and Madie's grandfather, Duke Edward, sends his butler to hurry into the scene to promise them a wonderful escape and new life at his palace in Castlebury. Upon arriving at the palace, Jules, Milo, and Maddie find an interestingly different lifestyle filled with music recitals and dance lessons. The children's grandfather is in wonderful health, albeit a little grumpy for having led a lifestyle without his grandchildren to remind him of the more pleasant aspect of the world.
Along the pathway of the movie, Jules and her niece and nephew discover who they are more fully and how they must continue to rely on one another just as they always have. The children develop and build a special bond with their grandfather which is most assuredly needed by all of them. Together, they learn to push past labels and rigid social structures to find what is more meaningful and deeply embedded within each of them.
Altogether, this is a romantically whimsical movie that is sure to leave viewers feeling safer, more pleasantly encouraged and inspired, and hoping for a more enchanting world of their own.

This is a truly wonderful Christmas movie. Just as Allie is living in a cramped apartment with her younger siblings, attempting her best to hold her family together and provide the care they need, she encounters a series of events that could easily spiral them out of control. Then, she is approached by the King's royal entourage who invite her to the palace to become the official caretaker for the young Princess Theodora. Theodora, as it turns out, fits none of the traditional expected characteristics of a proper young princess. The longer and more closely Alie works with Theodora, the more we see that Theodora's qualities are so much more extensive than the traditional proper princess could ever be expected to be. Theodora is fiercely loyal, independent, compassionate beyond measure, and loves placing qualities of virtue and loyalty above every other character trait found among the royals who have honestly become more like socialites than royals. Along the plotline of the film, Allie discovers that she has fallen in love with the young handsome king, who is Theodora's father. Allie discovers that accepting a position within the palace has provided much more for her than a perfect opportunity to care for her younger siblings who are still back in their apartment in New York City. Allie's experience within the palace has opened her eyes to an entire new way of life and revealed to her so much more depth of emotion, loyalty, and affection than she could ever have imagined possible.
