This film, like the previous two, relies on profound stupidity to drive its plot, and it's infuriating.
In the first, we learn that the infected eventually die off. That gets largely forgotten in the second film, but seasoned military officers make other -- even more moronic -- decisions.
In the third, there's yet more stupidity. Apparently well armed soldiers don't know how to form defensive lines or tactical retreats. Among other many dumb things.
So, every plot development relies on the stupidity of the people on screen, and it starts to wear on the soul.
This film is painful. I'd love a decent zombie flick, but this isn't it.
Idiotic.

I generally enjoy this show, and think that Stephen Merchant is usually very funny.
This episode pushed the cringe factor too hard. Merchant's character plays a solicitor who represents his friend in court, and is terribly unprepared and incompetent. It's very annoying to watch, and terribly frustrating.
In real life, a half decent barrister (not solicitor, fwiw) would represent said friend competently and devastate the accused (her father). It's just crappy writing. I really loathe it.
Moreover, I think that this third season isn't up to the standards of the first two. It seems a curse common to most shows: this season isn't as funny as the previous. I think that the writers and fans become entrenched, and the ability for self criticism and reflection means that reviews are disproportionately from fans, and the writing is disproportionately from lazy people. Such is life.

The characters are annoying, and the plot points are irritating.
I hate to be "that guy", but the CIA has no jurisdiction within the US, any "black ops" would be illegal, and holding police at gun-point is grounds for being shot and/or arrested.
In real life, the LAPD would use SWAT to take down the CIA agents in this episode. It's part of an on-going problem in "The Rookie" wherein they show no understanding of actual protocol. What's especially frustrating is that in previous episodes, they mock fake TV shows of not knowing how police procedure works.
Guess what? "The Rookie" is hopelessly wrong in terms of the law and procedures almost all of the time, even if it gets where to keep a gun and where to keep a stun-gun.
It's pathetic.
