This is the best strategy game I have ever seen, maybe even the best game I have ever seen. It has got humour, a good and serious story, best graphics I have ever seen in a strategy game and a great game-play.

Instead of the two races, Orcs and Humans, which the previous games, to which this one is a sequel, there are now four races, which you can control. Next to the Human alliance and the Orcisch horde there are the Undead scourge and the Night elves sentinels to control. In the single player game you can not choose with which race you want to play, you will have to play them in a pre set order. The reason for that is that the story line unfolds through the four campaigns.

The story is great. It is told by in-game cinematics and pre rendered cinematics. The last are really great, you will find yourself watching them over and over again because of all the detail there can be found. These cinematics really bring the characters to life, which is something really special for a RTS.

Unlike many other strategy games it has got something completely new: they combined RTS with RPG. The player has control over one to three so-called heroes. In the beginning of the game these heroes are not very powerful but during the game get experience through fighting and will get stronger and get powerful spells which the player can choose and upgrade according to what he think is best. Also the player will find magical items through the game which the hero can use to become even more powerful.

This is also the first RTS that I play where I don't get the idea I'm playing on a map instead of in a world in Warcraft III the world is really amazing. In the world you can find beautiful city's, dark forests, thundering waterfalls, exotic wildlife and small villages of a lot of different strange and mysterious races, rain and snow pour down from the sky and day turns in to night along with all the consequences involved. This gives the feeling you are really fighting for a land instead of for a map.

There is another thing that is different from other RTS games and that is that the building has many units and overwhelm the enemy strategy is no longer possible because the amount of units you can build is reduced alot. So you have to really care about every single unit and make sure that no one dies.

My conclusion is that this is one of the best game ever made and I can't wait until the expansion set and the new Warcraft game (The World of Warcraft). I only want to advise players to set the difficulty level of the game on hard, this will make some of the levels really hard but else it is to easy and you will have finished the single player campaign before you are aware of it.

  • Feels like a walk through a fairytale-forest

I'm a big fan of the Coen brothers and I think this is one of there best films. Well at least it is the one that is the most fun watching. If you compare the different Coen brother films you'll see that every film has its own style and use of colours and no two films are the same. Because of this every Coen brothers' movie is a surprise and this one certainly is.

The story is about three prisoners who escape and go on a quest to find the treasure one of them as hidden before he ended up in prison. From the moment they escape the most strange and amazing events start to happen. At least that is how the viewer and the three main characters experience everything. In reality nothing strange happens, but the Coen brothers succeeded in making every little thing that happens seem very mysterious. For example: three women who are washing their clothes in the river, sounds like nothing mysterious, but the Coen brother make you believe the three women are sirens. The movie is full with little things like this, which makes it some kind of eerie, thrilling, fairytale, in which everything seems and is possible.

The events occurring are not solely eerie end thrilling, as told previously, but are also good for a lot of smiles. Yes, smiles not laughs it is not a comedy, but it is a feel good movie and a good one. If the film ends you will have a big smile on your face, which will not disappear for quite some time. The movie feels like a walk through a fairytale-forest and that feeling will stay with you for some days.

Like in the Coen brothers' movie Fargo the most important colour was white, this movie also has one most used colour, this time it is brown and yellow. In every shot these colours are present and dominant. Also there is a lot of use of filters. Those two things together give the movie the dreamy, mysterious appearance. Because of this the movie is full of beautiful shots and even that alone makes it worthwhile to see the movie.

To conclude: if you want to see a movie which is fun to watch, gives you a happy feeling, has a good and unpredictable story, gets you thinking, has great actors and sublime directing, than this is the movie you want to see.

  • Great new style

Ice age is a really entertaining movie, a lot of laughs for the kids and their parents and really nice graphics. A completely new style was used. A smart move you don't want your work to end being crushed by pixar films or the Box-buster Shrek, which has great graphics but a bit of the same we have had already seen with Toy Story, and a lot of other computer animated movies. Instead of trying to make the characters and backgrounds as realistic as possible they tried to give the movie more the style of a classic cartoon, at which they succeeded, so don't expect to see Manfred the Mammoth's hair move in the wind like donkey's does in Shrek. But you can expect a movie that has a great use of colours and will give you the feeling of the old cartoons from fifteen years ago.

The children will love all the characters (and so will adults), especially Sid the Sloth. I have never seen a cartoon character so adorable as Sid.

The story is a little too sweet and predictable but the good humour makes up for that. The many jokes the movie is rich are great, as well for the little ones as for the more mature people under us, the more adult humour is brought to us very subtle and some of the jokes will never be understood by children or the less intelligent living among us. Especially the side story of the acorn-adventures of the little saber-tooth squirrel Scrat is a lot of fun and makes sure that even in the more serious parts of the movie there is humour present.

To conclude: this is a great movie for everyone, the humour is as much fun for adults as it is for children. The only thing I liked less was the story line, but that is forgiven because everything else is great and deserves a lot more credit than it has been given.
