I watched this movie because of Mr. Jun Shison. He starred in Yu Yu Hakusho, so I followed all his dramas and movies, so I came here. First of all he is such a versatile actor. He deserves so much recognition. He is the main reason I got into Japanese movie culture.
And the other cast members are also so talented. They interpret the characters' struggles, feelings very accurately. Even the child actors are very talented. The movie made me feel like I was privy to a rare mystery, yet one that was somehow relatable.
This kind of Japanese melodrama is known for its slow, subtle direction, which places the audience in the role of a trapped witness compelled to see scene after scene of excruciating pain and agony without much humor or relief.
So, I invite you guys to watch this masterpiece.
