It ends with us is basically a mess. The lead actor, Justin Baldoni was poorly cast. He didn't act like a real Doctor. I was shocked by how someone like Blake Lively would give his character the time of day much less a full on abusive relationship. He gave off a cringe vibe the second he appeared in the film. The movie wobbles along as Blake ( the lead actress) goes through memories of her abusive childhood. My friends and I thought Lively had plastic surgery because the actress who played a young Lively looked nothing like Blake. It was confusing, awkward and unnecessary. Toward the end Lively meets an ex boyfriend who notices her facial bruises. The ex played by Brandon Sklenar, an impressive talent saved the movie. Blake Lively appeared as if she wondered how in the world she agreed to be in the movie in the first place. I didn't understand her hair color which changed from dull red to pinkish back to the red which didn't suit her. She did a top notch job of acting in this poorly written and hideously directing of a film. The end of the movie was awful. My friends and I looked at each other in disbelief of such a piss poor ending. I gave it two stars, one for Lively, the other for Brandon Sklenar. If it weren't for those two actors, we would have left early.
Day Labor is a drama, a whirl-wind, and a nail-biter of a film! A movie so well directed and written I never thought once of getting up for a snack. The picture holds your attention with fierce curiosity. I kept wanting to know what happens next! The acting is superb! Stand out Gary Cairns is the brother with a conscience. Cairns struggles with going along with his blood thirsty family throughout the film until his character pivots, making a sudden shift allowing his true heroic nature take over! Gary Cairn's acting genius is his superior, understated, way of conveying a character. He looks like a nice guy but don't underestimate Cairns in the beginning of the movie. The brother Cairns seems closest to is actor, Corin Nemac. Like brothers can be in real life Cairns and Nemac are as different as night and day. Corin Nemac is brilliant. The two men work well together and I hope to see them in another film. Directing is excellent! R. Ellis Frazier does a great job of keeping each scene tied up, exciting and psychologically intense. Scenery was perfect. Nothing like finding yourself on a massive ranch in hostile territory while being hunted. Amy Johnston is a beautiful badass and exceptional actress as a detective out to find her ex, Danny Arroyo, an American Veteran caught up in an unlikely position. Louis Mandylor plays a Sheriff with stage 5 creep factor, hitting on Amy Johnston. Bad idea! Johnston is like a dog with a bone, nothing will stop her from finding Arroyo. Kudos to the writers! Quick dialogue, great pacing. Day Labor is a 10!
Worst film I've seen in years. Boring, predictable, disjointed. Terrible acting except for the Father and Grandmother, Nan. Such a hideous waste of money by the person who produced ( cough, cough, cough) it. It being the formative word of this debacle of a film. Another addict with incomprehensible talent and no management, dies from substance abuse when it was obvious she had abuse issues before fame. The writers of this film should be put out to pasture. The director needs to find another line of work and fast. The actress who played Amy Winehouse has a future with completely different managers, agents and scripts.
