I was born in Port Arthur Texas in 1954 and we moved overseas in 1964. Probably around 1961-1963 I remember Dad and Mom watching this movie on TV and I watched it with them and my sister. Two things I remember about this movie. When the station would go to commercial and return to the movie they would show the hurricane still picture complete with sounds of howling winds. Second, the woman went looking for her husband and found him, a skeleton draped over his desk and sitting in his office chair. Those were frightening to me. Years later I bought that DVD in EBAY with the poster. I love that movie and understand this was the first movie made about such a Holocaust.
I bought this movie at a used DVD store for a dollar and watched it. It wasn't even worth that much. I had read you will either love it or hate it. I hated it. Felt like I needed to take a shower after watching it. I could understand most of the actors being in a movie like this like Jamie Foxx and all the football players. But, Charlton Heston? I thought he was more mature than the rest of them. That he would choose roles of higher quality. This movie was nothing but trash. Dennis Quaid has developed into a good actor though. But at the time of this movie some of his choices for roles were not that good. I will always remember Heston for the high quality, good movies he has made.
This was a good episode. It was sad that Harris's character dies. I think there were genuine feelings between the characters Rowdy and Harris. Which was portrayed effectively. If there was ever a funny moment in this one, it was at the end when Rowdy, instead of Gil Favor, yells out "Head 'em up. Move 'em out!" Rowdy just did not say it with the same passion as Gil Favor. It was kind of a comical moment. However, in the whole episode, Rowdy did a good job filling his role as trail boss instead of ramrod until Gil Favor returns. All actors were effective in this one. I guess you have to have one comical moment and Clint gave it.
