I've noticed that all of the negative reviews that I've seen online have come from Mormon-related sources, so they're biased, but I love this series! No one is plain old good or evil, the characters are just normal flawed human characters who think that what they're doing is right even though other people might disagree! Granted, the Amerindians are the most sympathetic, but even they're not perfect! American Primeval is a perfect encapsulation of the chaos that was the Mormon war of 1857, which was basically the 19th century equivalent of a wag the dog that President Buchanan tried to use to distract people from the fact that the country was falling apart at the seams!

As an American who is also a subject of the British crown by virtue of the fact that my father was born in Great Britain to a British citizen, I have to say that this take on the whole Prince Andrew-Jeffery Epstein affair was very well done, a very nuanced view of what went down! Now, I believe Virginia Guiffre's allegations against the Duke of York are 100% accurate, no matter what he says, or has said! I also believe that Andrew is an entitled spoiled brat with a severe case of arrested development! I've never understood why the late Queen was so fond of him, regardless of the fact that he was her son, she should have stopped him from getting involved with a monster like Epstein in the first place, let alone get involved with the sex trafficking! I think Andrew was let off very easy by the Palace, while his nephew, Prince Harry, was hung out to dry for things that are far less reprehensible than having sex with a minor!

When I was a kid, I used to watch my family's VHS tape of this movie constantly! It was a eye-opener for me, as my knowledge of Chinese folklore and mythology, especially of Sun Wu Kong, the Monkey King, was pretty much non-existent at the time, and I also learned how to speak and understand the same Chinese words that Big Bird does! I love the bond that grows between Big Bird and Xiao Fu over the course of the movie, and I was very pleased to learn that Caroll Spinney and the young girl who played her had stayed in touch after Mr. Spinney left to go back to America when the filming was done! The fact that the viewer gets to see and appreciate the beauty of the Chinese countryside is just icing on the cake of a very good movie!
