Perfectly fits in the category for a movie that provides fun and entertaintment without getting uou bored. It is not masterpiece it doesnot aim to be masterpiece. It is like christmas time movies, to give good time and fun during christmas, excelt this one is in the domain of not a family movie :) So there is a gay couple and they spend their werkend in a house they rented. So, it is not scary but it has haunted house elements, and some people of course might still find some scene as scary or disturbing but it is very very low level of scare, it is a comedy movie. Well, uou might not like the jokes but overall it is entertainining. If you have time and nothing left to watch and if you wanna keep your brain rested and entertained, just watch.

This is so overrated movie, it might not be boring but it has nothing i mean the story is not rich. Nothing happening, it could be a short movie. The only good part is that details about the "magic making process". It is detailed and difficult and complicated. OK, so what, exactly, so what, where is the story, where is the character deptness. Characters, I thought they are deep and we will be seeing details and twists about their background but NO. A big no, just shallow characters. It is not scary, because nothing is happening. It is not a psychological character drama, because film doesnot go in deep for characters and their psychology. The only message it gives is that, magic is difficult to make and there might be side effects, lol.

Although minimalistic and simple, soderbergh makes you watch the whole movie with sustainable interest. Basically a good idea doesnot need special effects to create tension, curiosity and excitement. In this movie we see that. The most innovative part of this movie is the use of camera, and of course the single plans, long shots, perhaps even 15 minute shots. The transition is smooth and editing is superb, artisan level of work. Reminincence of Hitchcock movies. Acting is also convincing, but I must say that the lack of close up shots and frames also makes the job of actors easier. So, pribably the least credits going to actirs. But they could have done a terrible job. But they didnt, they did just the minimum sufficient level. Go and watch it, thank me later.
