While the grand sets, powerful vocal performances, and magical settings of this movie are captivating, the tempo is just too slow for me. I tried my absolute hardest to like this film but I found myself disengaged and uninterested 90% of the time. It's sad because Erivo, Grande, Bailey, and all of the other cast members are phenomenal singers/actors, the slow paced, dragged out plot trumped their performances. I didn't like how one song would take nearly 10 minutes of the movie, the dance breaks were underwhelming and far too long. I found myself cringing at times, the whole thing just seemed over-the-top and exaggerated.
The first movie was so fresh and funny!! The second however was not. It's kinda sad to see how horrible Sophie and JJ get along this time, like what the frick happened to thier relationship why is she such a horrible person in this one. The jokes are not as funny and the action isn't as cool. For me is was just very very hard to watch all of the fighting knowing how much love wes in the last one. Also the plot holes are so bad💀💀💀💀💀💀. Also omg it's kinda copying the movie spiderman far from home...school field trip goes wrong in Italy and then fighting/action movie stuff. The one bright spot is flula borg (I love that man-he is hilarious.)
