  • easter without a church building

the film does speak of Jesus as the central figure in history & gives a brief summary of his incarnation, life, suffering, death, & resurrection. it includes moral insights into the value of people over things. but it misses the mark in such a horrific way that i was disgusted, saddened. in easter future (play off dickens), mr. nezzer sees the consequences of tearing down a church building--a police officer who once displayed courage has lost hope, those who once cared for orphans give up & orphans walk the streets homeless...all this because of the loss of a building. i understand the place for symbolism, but the inference that a building stands for hope or the meaning of the resurrection is folly. let us consider history & the enduring work of Jesus. when nations have tried to rid their people of the influence of Christianity by removing bibles or tearing down church buildings or forbidding meetings, was the hope of the resurrection lost?

  • connect the dots

from the trailer, i didn't expect much. the movie delivered as much. some nice scenes, but weak script.

i guess it is hard to connect all the dots. ghost rider--devil's bounty hunter on a motorcycle--is an edgy (or rather over the edge) image. how do you give him purpose, make him a character with whom the audience can identify, make him likable, & keep him dark/edgy?

i had no previous exposure to this marvel personality, but this film did not whet my appetite. i am not comic-book-clever enough to offer any constructive criticism, but this film missed the mark. i guess more depth (not vague soul-searching), intellect, & control over his power might help--maybe.

  • typical Disney film

thoughtless one-dimensional adults easily manipulated by teenagers, restrictive killjoy parents who need to learn from their children, & the all-important theme--follow your feelings

sequel to the little mermaid--ideological poison packaged for public consumption & cultural/moral demise

    but it's fun

that's all i want to say, but i need to fill up ten lines, so i will make less worthwhile comments. the singing far excels the dancing; the choreography seems to aim for the lowest common denominator. characters & relationships are endearing but shallow. the conflict is short & the resolution overly simplistic.
