No, the movie is not 100% accurate.
It does need to be. It's a movie.
I miss back when historical novels, or movies about existing people, could have the writer's personal touch in them.
Mary was an intresting woman, that much can be agreed on everyone, and the movie tries to imagine how her story folded as it did and what kind of woman she was. Yes, there is imagination here. But there is also emotion, cinema, an intresting idea.
'Mary' never once claims to be a documentary, and deserves to be judged by the way it makes you feel.
Personally, I liked the movie's bravery in trying this idea. It's a feminist retelling and has a heart.
However, yes, it is a little bland and quite weird sometimes. Howevver, I'd wish that it would get less backlash for it.
We need to encourage bravery in cinema, not deminish it.
