Not a movie I expected to enjoy.
Certainly not a movie I ever expected to reccomend.
I found this movie quite interesting and very clever, not for the story line or acting, but the deeper meaning behind the facade. I do think it was well done, but the deeper understanding it gives watchers into the generational understanding, through contrasts.
There is alot being said about the Generations and even the generational wars that seem to be in play at this current age. This movie made me view things in quite a different light.
When people talk in a negative light about Gen z, common criticisms of Gen Z include concerns about their workplace loyalty, lack of ambition even laziness, and struggles with mental health and anxiety.
Watching this movie, i understood that the toxic element was actually the older generations and due to the more loving and caring parenting of Gen z, they are looking for a much more meaningful life, and have not been taught to be a slave to the grind.
Many Gen X and Millenials I have reccomended watch this film, to understand our own behaviours, and childhood. The fact that it's actually the Gen Z, that are healthier by far than us. Hence the reason they have so many mental health issues, because the world we have created it not conducive to a healthy life.
Very clever screenplay.

Amazing Mr Blunden is truly a beautiful piece of UK cinema.
Made in 1972, the well written, well acted movie really lasts through the ages.
There are some quite brilliant and original performances. Especially Diana Dors, who put herself into a character and performance that was very very different to what she will always be remembered for. She was spectacular.
There is nothing that comes across as cringie over 50 years later.
All of my children, in their late teens, and toddlers, would count this as a favourite film too. In a time where stupid storyless rubbish seems to be the norm, this movie really is a "scary" family movie. Trying to write a review without spoilers is tough,

A rare occasion any movie drives me to rate it, the moment it finishes. Not a Paul Kelly Fan, but what a brilliant, top acting, well written piece of Cinema. The realities of Christmas for a big portion of society. Emotional realities, behavioural understanding, even some more idealistic rectification in some ways.
I'll not put in any details or spoilers, but I will highly reccomend some realist drama viewing.
A drama that doesn't use sex, drugs and violence to hook into its audience.
Very raw, emotional look at triggered, emotionally reactive behaviours, and where those unconcious patterns lead you.
Really 10 🌟.
