I have a soft spot in my heart for the Battle for Saipan. My brother in law is the son of Guy Gabaldon, who was a well known war hero in Saipan (watch the movie "From Hell to Eternity"). This movie is far from perfect. The action and scenes are laughable at times. There is a certain lack of urgency that the soldiers carry in the most harrowing of moments; and the acting is mediocre overall. However, there is only 2 movies (to my knowledge) that covers this specific aspect of WW2's Pacific Theater. Based on this fact, I feel the movie is worthy of watching in that you're oayjj in ng respect to the historical implications of the pacific theater that sadly is more often than not, overlooked.
