This film was one of the most pleasant surprises in the slasher horror genre in recent times. I went to see it in the cinema without any expectations, actually convinced that I was going to watch one of those teen movies with lots of violence and nothing more. In reality, I was more than satisfied. Great story, great cast, great slasher moments. The motivations behind the crimes are uniquely brilliant.
Ti West managed to recreate that 70s/80s horror style (which I revisited by watching all the Friday the 13th, Nightmare on Elm Street, Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Halloween films) while bringing in modern cinematic innovations without any missteps.
Perhaps I would have pushed the nudity aspect a bit further. Since they brought back the 70s slasher format, I would have dared a bit more in adapting it to our times, but it still works, and the film functions perfectly.
Kudos to Mia Goth, who was fantastic, and the same goes for Jenna Ortega, whom we've discovered to be much more capable in horror roles (see also the last two Scream films) than in the silly Netflix series that limit her.
A recommended film that all genre lovers must see.

Saw last night with my boyfriend. We really loved it. Scary and emotional, and I really like the social factor inside that movie.
+ the story is very attractive + it's a social horror that, with some jump scare and thrill, want to show us how immigrant in Italy are seen as invisibile by the government + the main actress is very good, we feel her breakdown as the movie goes on + the ghosts and the shadow are really scary + all the main actors works very well
+/- is a movie made with micro budget, and you can see it, but it works very well

- the photography is really bad in some scene ...
- ... and so the color
- almost all the minor actors are really bad acting.
