Fun enjoyable sitcom. It's crazy how some of these episodes are already dated given our current unbelievable political/racial and just mean situation.
This show was a learning lesson for me. I'm a motormouth and my husband...quiet. This show's an example of the Spanish saying "en boca cerrado no entra moscas," or in English, "a fish dies by its mouth." Half of these situations would not occur if the protagonist just kept his mouth shut.
Love Cedric and his 2 kids. They are the center of this sitcom.

Elsbeth "fish out of NY" was cute the first season, but if she loves NY so much why hasn't she blended in more? It's season 3 (year 3), and she's as weird and goofy as she was the first episode, if not worse. Does she actually have more totes and they are all flopping around empty, doesn't she now have a permanent office to store s#$t. My god, I can't imagine a NYer walking down the street, riding subways and cabs with 4 totes, fuzzy fisherman's hat and giant pussy bows blouses and not getting stuck. Also did they get a new costume designer? Her outfits were cute, now they are just over the top as the acting and script.
She's actually mean and unlikable in the first few episodes, something I never noticed in some of the shows Elsbeth is based on, like Colombo, Shaloub's character or Psychic. Also, Bring back her original side-kick, she helped tone her down significantly.

This show is so funky, so full of holes, but typical of many of the French murder mysteries that I enjoy on MHZ, thus the 7 points, not less.(some ex. Astrid, Murder in...,,The art of crime, Family Cases, Magallan, and my favorite, Mongeville)
Many of these shows will not let a plain murder mystery get in the way of doing things the "french way." Eating, 24/7, wine, high heels, professor abusing/taking advantage of students. Not holding guns correctly, etc. Has never stopped a French director from telling a French murder mystery.
Sometimes these shows drive me nuts, this show more than others. But As long as they continue to be "tongue in cheek, full of French charm and humor, and I get to practice my high school french, I"ll give them high ratings. At least they are not as mind numbing boring as a Hallmark murder mystery.
