Let's say that this film is not near abysmal.........unless you're watching it in school for the hundredth time. In that scenario the words start to sink in and it truly is. While I feel that overall this is a funny and entertaining film that exceeded its potential, it's Mr Poppy that gets me. The (inappropriate) jokes carry the film for the most part, but the idea that the head brung a random crazy man into an environment with children, without a care from the parents that they are stuck with someone seemingly unstable instead of learning and the fact that said children happen to be able to recall their teachers failed love life from 5 years ago, is farther from reality than if a real angel was to show up on set and join in the fun. Don't even get me started on Shakespeare- a disgrace to the name. I will admit that despite this and the unrealistic expectations that it gave me about school nativities it has to be considered as an all time favourite......as long as you don't watch it for 3 periods in a row.
