I really enjoyed the first season of The Man in the High Castle. The concept of an alternate history where the Axis powers won World War II was fascinating, and the world-building was excellent. The tension, visuals, and mystery surrounding the films kept me hooked. However, after Season 2, the show started to decline. The execution became messy, and the pacing was inconsistent.
One of my biggest issues was the characters. None of them felt truly likable, and many made frustrating choices. I especially disliked "the Resistance"-instead of being inspiring, they were annoying and hard to root for. The main characters also became less engaging as the story went on
Another letdown was how the show handled its themes. Instead of diving deeper into the alternate history, later seasons introduced unnecessary subplots that didn't add much. The story lost focus, and the films, which were a major mystery in Season 1, felt less important over time.
Despite these flaws, the core idea was great. I'm now considering reading the book, as I've heard it handles the themes better. The show had potential, but the weak characters and poor execution made it disappointing in the end.
