Jimmy Carter: From Peanuts to President

Jimmy Carter: From Peanuts to President

  • Worth a watch if you've forgotten what the 70s was like!

An incredibly charming and well-crafted documentary that offers a fresh perspective on the former president. The film has a kind, almost nostalgic vibe, reflecting Carter's humble, down-to-earth nature. One of the standout aspects for me is the excellent use of stock footage-old news reels, concert clips, and behind-the-scenes moments are woven together seamlessly, giving the film a rich sense of history. It feels like you're being taken back in time, with music as the backdrop to Carter's political career.

The pacing is well done, balancing lighter, feel-good moments with more reflective ones. The documentary doesn't try to overwhelm you with information or delve too deeply into policy; instead, it focuses on Carter as a person, his deep connection to music, and how that shaped his presidency and relationships. There's an infectious positivity throughout that makes it easy to watch. It's not just a standard biography-it's a celebration of a man who brought kindness and culture into politics.

Overall, it's a thoughtful, uplifting film that brings Carter's humanity front and center. If you're looking for a heartwarming and informative documentary, this one definitely delivers.

  • Brilliant.

"Harakiri" is one of the most powerful films I've ever seen, a true cinematic masterpiece. From the moment it begins, Masaki Kobayashi's direction pulls you in with its stark visuals and intense atmosphere. Tatsuya Nakadai's performance is absolutely mesmerizing-he conveys so much emotion with just a glance. The film's pacing is deliberate, but it works perfectly, building tension with every scene. What I found most striking is its bold critique of traditional values, challenging concepts like honor in a way that feels timeless. It's a film that stays with you long after it ends. 5/5

    Deffo worth a watch.

  • Does the JOB!

"Always Be My Maybe" is a light, enjoyable rom-com that hits familiar beats but lacks depth. Ali Wong and Randall Park have great chemistry, with Wong's sharp wit and Park's grounded charm. The film's standout moment is Keanu Reeves' hilarious cameo. However, the plot is predictable, and some opportunities for emotional depth are missed. While it's funny and heartwarming, it doesn't break new ground in the genre. A pleasant watch for a casual night in, but not particularly memorable.

It's a feel-good film that fans of both leads will appreciate, but it's unlikely to become a classic.

Watch if you enjoy this style of film.
