I just rewatched this film and it is just as good as the first time. I'm impressed by the age of the actors in this film and how amazing their performances are. River Phoenix has a moment with Wil Wheaton where he is pouring out his emotions to him. This scene just makes you want to cry, but it also show's you the emotional maturity that these kids had at such a young age.
The idea of fleeting friendship is what I think about when I watch this film. The way you can be so close with a certain group of people and in a moment that can change. This film does a good job at presenting this idea through the eyes of younger children.

God this film is still so strong in this day of age. It's sad rewatching Robin Williams and seeing how talented of a performer he was. He truly was an icon of his time and has given a number of important performances. It's also fun to re-watch this movie and see performance from the younger actors like Ethan Hawke, Robert Sean Leonard, and Gale Hansen. It's interesting to see how their careers progressed.
I think that any young boy can find themselves in the cast of those films even if you did not attend a private school. There are universal themes in this film that I think every young boy going through high school experiences.

The film really surprised me with the love story between Jesus and Elena. Their connection feels super genuine, especially given the heavy theme of human trafficking. Even with everything going on around them, their relationship offers a light in the darkness.
What really stood out is how their bond develops through all the tough stuff they face. It's cool to see how they lean on each other during their struggles, creating these moments of joy that feel like a breath of fresh air. The chemistry between them is strong, and their time together really pulls you in. After watching the movie, I couldn't stop thinking about how love can shine through even the darkest times. It adds so much depth to the film and shows how powerful that connection can be in helping people get through tough situations.
