Although the show is not an exact "word-for-word" adaptation of the book, it brings a fresh breath of air, offering a new perspective while staying true to the core themes and characters. The creative liberties taken by the producers allow for deeper exploration of certain plot lines and character development, enhancing the story in unexpected ways. In my personal opinion, this show was exactly what the fandom needed. While the books are great, they definitely have that early 2000s vibe and can feel a bit outdated by today's standards. The show, however, breathes new life into the story, modernizing the themes and characters in a way that resonates with contemporary audiences. It keeps the essence of what made the books special while giving them a fresh, updated feel that makes the story more relatable and relevant. One of the standout aspects of the show is the chemistry between the cast members, especially between the actors who play Lucinda and Daniel. Their connection brings real emotional depth to the story and makes their scenes captivating and memorable, especially their flashback scenes. From many of the comments, I can see that the main frustration with the show is that it leaves off on too many questions and a cliffhanger ending. But it's important to remember that this isn't a mini-series-it's just one season of an ongoing show. Building up the narrative and characters takes time, and shows often leave room for development in future seasons to dig into the more complex, nitty-gritty answers. I'm sure if the show continues, many of these questions will be explored, allowing for a richer, more satisfying story as it unfolds. I loved this adaptation, and I hope that many people approach watching the series with an open mind and fresh perspective. It's not just about comparing it to the books, but about embracing the new direction the show takes while staying true to the core of the story. The creative choices really bring something exciting and different, and I believe viewers will appreciate how it adds new depth to a beloved narrative.
