The Magus (1968)

Not the best, but I liked it

In this psychological thriller, Michael Caine plays the enigmatic character Nicholas Urfe, who becomes embroiled in a mysterious game with a wealthy man on a Greek island. Despite a pretty bad pacing and writing, the film has a unique atmosphere and deep themes about identity and manipulation. The film surely tries to maintain some sort of originality and an element of surprise. And although I can't say that this movie is good, I still enjoyed it. Caine's performance is compelling, and the film offers rich visuals and an intriguing storyline. It's definitely a work of art, in all of its' controversial glory.
