Definitely appreciate the Covid connection, rapid virus spreading, breaking through containment, government intervention -- it added a layer of familiarity to the movie. Aside from the voice-over, the main distraction was the utter incompetence of the main character. He seemed to have no common sense, no exposure to the real world/life in general. Every decision he made was outright idiotic, to the point that I found myself wishing the zombies would just hurry up and infect him and the movie would end. During an incident at a gas station, he has a chance to grab a handgun with ammo but chooses a singje-shot spear-gun. At a blockade he could have grabbed an armored military vehicle loaded with heavy weapons and ammo a
but decides to keep his dirtbike and speargun. Moments later, the sight of dead zombies on the ground "shocks" him so much he crashes the dirtbike and puts the much more important character (his cat) at risk. At this moment I'm wishing for the worst and almost gave up on the movie---stupid clumsy characters are NOT entertaining, period. I'm hoping the next one in the series contains a much more likeable main character.
