Really wanted to like this but honestly it so just goes through the clichés of the original and tries to recreate what made the original successful that it is devoid of any creative spark or originality.
The acting is perfunctory, they try their best, but the script is so rigid and ridiculous that not even the likes of Denzel can save it.
Even the special effects, that is meant to portray the size of Rome, seems tired and without any awe factor of the original.
I love Scott as a director and would wish this was better but it really is a poor attempt at a sequel, should really be consigned to the bargain bin.

I don't get all the negativity in the reviews, yes it's pace is not in the Bourne territory but it's suspenseful, fabulously acted and grabs your attention. Fassbender again is excellent and unlike most spy dramas it is actually quite believable.
I haven't seen the French original before this so forgive me if I don't give a comparison but it would be a shame if any negative comparison would stop any enjoyment of this.
Perhaps the pacing concerns come from the binge watching culture, it's probably slow if you want to watch a number of episodes in one sitting but I honestly can't see any issue with it.
Please don't let any of the negativity stop you watching, it's well worth your time.
