I think it was worth seeing. The characters are relatable and the storyline of their struggles and triumphs plays out well and develops over time. The acting is good, with Adam Driver carrying the load in every scene. The plot is mostly slow and predictable, which explains most of the negative reviews. There are rocket ships and a few pieces of interesting tech equipment. To me, this film was so much like The Last of Us. In place of zombies and abandoned buildings, there are dinosaurs and natural hiding places like caves. The dialogue has a similar style and the pace is similar. If you're a fan of that show, give this a shot. It may surprise you.
I didn't expect to like this one as much as I did. The acting was excellent. Of course a person in a coma doesn't just start walking, talking, etc. Normally but I overlooked that. It's interesting to watch Kate interact with the friends she had as a teenager, learn about the technological advances, continually recall bits and pieces of what happened, and figure out how to be a middle aged adult. Reconciling who she was with who she must become gives this series depth and left me wanting more episodes. It's also interesting to watch her family accept that their lives need to move forward and suddenly realize how much they put themselves on hold. An unexpectedly pleasant experience.
