  • It's a movie to have in the background

Predator didn't really do it for me. I get why it's a classic for some people, but it just felt kind of hollow. The concept of an alien hunting humans in the jungle sounds cool, but the execution didn't hold up for me. A lot of it felt like generic action scenes strung together without much to say beyond "look at how tough these guys are."

Arnold Schwarzenegger is fun to watch as always, and the Predator itself is a great design, but the characters felt pretty one-dimensional. I wasn't invested in anyone, so when things started going south, it didn't hit that hard.

The pacing was also kind of uneven. There were moments of tension, but a lot of it dragged or felt repetitive. I will say the final showdown had some good moments, but by then, I was kind of checked out. It's not terrible, but for all the hype, I expected more.

  • Arrived just in time

I was absolutely blown away by Arrival. It's one of those movies that feels like it's saying something really meaningful while still keeping you completely hooked the whole time. The way it handles the alien encounter is so original. It's not about big action scenes but more about connection and understanding. The whole concept of language and how it shapes reality is just mind-blowing.

Amy Adams is amazing in it. She brings so much emotion, and you really feel her journey as the story goes on. The way the movie plays with time is so clever. It has one of those twists that makes you want to rewatch the whole thing right after.

Everything about it is just so well done. The music, the way it's shot, even the design of the aliens all feel fresh and thoughtful. I love that it focuses more on hope and humanity than fear. Honestly, I wouldn't change a thing. This is sci-fi at its best.

  • I wish there were more movies like this

I was really happy with how fresh the story felt and I found myself laughing a lot. The movie involves a cult but handles it in a surprising way. It has some like magical realism with how photosynthesis plays a role for the characters, and it has a satirical edge that reminded me of American Psycho, though it's about a completely different subject. The cast is small, but I thought the three main actresses did a great job balancing the drama and humor. The movie uses a lot of creative elements to keep things unpredictable. There's lots of playing with color. The music worked well too. I think the themes it touches on are ones we're going to be hearing more about in real life. This a great find.
