A prequel to the first movie, where Norris escapes. Most of the movie focuses on Norris and his men trying to survive the torture they endure. For a while the movie feels like The Bridge on the River Kwai and The Deer Hunter, but the action starts up midway through and becomes like Rambo. There might be some continuity errors in the movie, but the Missing in Action series doesn't rely on continuity. It's more like a stand alone entry, where you don't have to watch the first movie to know what's going on. It might not be Norris's best film, but it's not the worst film either. It's Simply good fun.
Norris plays Colonel Braddock, a Vietnam vet searching for POWs still being held captive in Vietnam. It is one of few movies in the 1980s dealt with the POW/MIA issue. The most popular one is Rambo: First Blood Part Two. A lot of people call this movie a ripoff of Rambo, but it actually was released a year prior to Rambo. The film is full of 80s action and is testimony to that decade. Somethings might be inaccurate, but don't take the politics too seriously. It shows Norris's capability as an action icon and movie star. It might take awhile but, action is what makes this movie on Norris's best films.
